Turkey loves döner and köfte the most

According to the results of the research highlighting eating habits, the highest credit card spending in the food and beverage sector was made at döner and köfte restaurants.

According to the GÖSAŞ research revealing Turkey's dining preferences in 2023, throughout the year, the highest spending with credit cards was made at döner and köfte restaurants, followed by kebab, pide, and burger restaurants.

The preference in Tekirdağ shifted from köfte to döner

Tekirdağ, along with cities such as Çanakkale, İzmir, Antalya, Karaman, Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep, Mardin, Şırnak, Hakkari, Rize, Trabzon, Ordu, Sinop, and Ankara, as well as seven regions of Turkey, saw Garanti BBVA card users showing interest in döner restaurants. Except for Tekirdağ and Çanakkale, the Marmara Region positioned itself differently by choosing köfte. Only Tunceli preferred kebab, while Bolu, Afyonkarahisar, Zonguldak, Amasya, Uşak, Aydın, and Bayburt preferred pide. Mersin stood out with tantuni, not abandoning its local dish.

Pide was the top choice in the Aegean and Black Sea regions

In cities with a variety of cuisine options above the Turkish average, İstanbul, Kocaeli, and Antalya chose burger restaurants, while pide restaurants ranked highest in preference in the Aegean and Black Sea regions. In the Inner and Eastern Anatolia regions, döner/kebab took its place on the table, while lahmacun was preferred more in the Southeast compared to other cities and regions.

Edirne placed the highest number of home delivery orders

Edirne and İzmir placed the highest number of home delivery orders through transactions made with Garanti BBVA cards. İstanbul entered the research from the third place, while Kırklareli, Çanakkale, Tekirdağ, and Denizli stood out as cities with a high rate of home delivery orders.
