Egg Consumption in Turkey Falls Below Target Levels

On World Egg Day, Müjdat Sezer, Chairman of the HasTavuk Board of Directors, stated that eggs will remain an important source of economic and environmentally friendly protein in the long term. He emphasized that egg production emits ten times less carbon than red meat and consumes one-third less water.

Turkey's Status in Egg Production

Turkey produces 18 billion eggs annually from 100 million laying hens, with 2 billion of those eggs exported. The annual per capita egg consumption in Turkey is around 150, while in developed countries, this figure can rise to 400. Sezer emphasized the need to increase consumption in Turkey and stated that production should be strengthened with government support.

Call for Support to Increase Production

Sezer noted that the way to increase production is by ensuring that producers can make a profit. He also highlighted that exports are a balanced component and that there should be no restrictions in this regard.
