Our second focus point for combating animal diseases is Elazığ
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumaklı visited Elazığ as part of his programs. Minister Yumaklı conducted inspections at the Veterinary Road Control and Inspection Station on the Elazığ-Bingöl Highway, which will soon be operational. Governor Ömer Toraman, AK Party Elazığ Deputies Ejder Açıkkapı, Erol Keleş, and Mahmut Rıdvan Nazırlı, Elazığ Mayor Şahin Şerifoğulları, and institution directors attended the event.
Minister Ibrahim Yumaklı highlighted Turkey's extensive experience in livestock production, stating, "As we announced in our livestock roadmap last week, we shared with the public what we will do under various headings to increase animal production in our country. One of the most important issues was the spread of diseases, especially with uncontrolled animal movements to different parts of our country. Especially with the impact of climate change, diseases have spread rapidly in recent times, causing significant damage to our economy. We discussed the need for control points in the fight against animal diseases. We opened and put into effect the first one in Erzurum. There, the control of animal movements and the information of our producers and the transport companies involved in animal movement, and the coordination of all elements involved in this process, have been conveyed to them."
Yumaklı continued, "Elazığ has become our second focal point in combating animal diseases, which cause significant damage to the national economy and livestock sector. Here, we have reviewed the final preparations. We visited the inspection station, which will start operating next month. Here, our experienced veterinary doctors will work in coordination with our law enforcement forces. Everything that needs to be done, from checking the ear tags of moving animals to their health certificates and vaccination status, will be thoroughly inspected here. We want our vaccination program and our awareness activities to work together in combating animal diseases. If any discrepancies, irregularities, or other issues are detected at the road control point, our colleagues will take the necessary action. We have planned to open 8 such points in Ankara, Çankırı, Sivas, Kayseri, and Mersin.
