The 600-acre metropolitan municipality-designated pasture is now green

Through the joint efforts of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, and Kocasinan Agricultural Chamber, a pioneering collaborative project, the Rangeland Rehabilitation Project, was implemented for the first time in Turkey. A total of 600 hectares of land, consisting of 400 hectares in Beydeğirmeni and 200 hectares in Molu, were designated as rangeland. The area, supplied with seeds by the Metropolitan Municipality and prepared by its teams, and subsequently planted by the Kocasinan Agricultural Chamber, transformed into lush greenery within a short span of six months and was opened for grazing.

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality's collaborative efforts with relevant institutions in agriculture and animal husbandry continue to yield results. Under the Rangeland Rehabilitation Project, a total of 600 hectares of land were restored to rangeland status through the joint efforts of the Metropolitan Municipality's machinery, procurement of seeds by the Municipality, and planting by the Kocasinan Agricultural Chamber.

A total of 600 hectares, with 400 hectares in Beydeğirmeni and 200 hectares in Molu, underwent rehabilitation from degraded rangeland. The seeds provided by the Metropolitan Municipality were planted across the entire 600 hectares. The planting process was carried out by the Chamber of Agriculture, utilizing tractors previously granted by the Metropolitan Municipality to farmers.

Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç highlighted that the project has enlivened the pastures in Kayseri and emphasized that investments and services in agriculture and animal husbandry will continue without interruption. Stressing their significant efforts to make Kayseri a center for agriculture and animal husbandry, Mayor Büyükkılıç mentioned the allocation of 400 hectares to Beydeğirmeni Village and 200 hectares to Molu Village in the Kocasinan district, located 25 kilometers away from Kayseri.

Mayor Büyükkılıç recalled that the rangeland was rehabilitated within a short span of six months after the planting of forage crop seeds in mid-November 2023, expressing his hopes for the project to bring prosperity to the region and farmers.
